DO photograph them/DON'T make it a selfie
In Georgetown, alligators call water home. Respect their space and DO NOT feed them or attempt to approach them.
DO appreciate their taste for rats/DON'T torpedo them with your kayak
If you see a snake while kayaking, it is most likely a non-venomous water snake. Leave it alone; it does not want to encounter you. It is possible to observe a cottonmouth water moccasin, rattle snake, or copperhead while exploring the water. Like any wild animal, they want to be left alone. Giving warning signs, like shaking their rattles or opening their wide, white mouths, is their way of telling you to scram.
DO swim at the beach/DON'T swim in the river
We rent kayaks, not snorkels. Stay in your vessel.
DO ride them like a pro/DON'T hang ten
Kayaks aren't the only crafts on the water. Larger boats may make a wake that heads your way. Point the tip of your kayak into the wake and ride over it. Taking the wake on the side of your kayak will result in you needing a snorkel, and, remember, we don't rent those.
